Did you know Jesus’ own village tried to kill Him at the start of His ministry? It was His first time teaching in His local synagogue. Initially, “Everyone spoke well of him” (Luke 4:22). Yet, the scene quickly shifted. They dragged Him to the edge of a cliff to throw Him off, but “he passed right through the crowd and went on his way” (Luke 4:30). What caused this murderous rage? They expected amazing miracles. They had heard of His wonders elsewhere and demanded them at home. Jesus, however, refused, reminding them that God often sent prophets to bless outsiders and foreigners, not just Israel. That truth enraged them. While shocking, there is a profound lesson here. We often live as though God’s divine story revolves solely around us. We are “a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation” (1 Peter 2:9). Yet, this calling should never lead to entitlement or arrogance in what we expect from God. Instead, it must lead to humility. “In humility value others above yourselves” (Philippians 2:3). You are chosen, so remember: “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up” (James 4:10). (Craig B) Open Bible – https://bit.ly/Luk4v14-30, https://bit.ly/1Pe2v9, bit.ly/phi2v3
