Depth of love

Depth of love

There is a worship song I enjoy singing that start as follows; “How deep the Father’s love for us, How vast beyond all measure, That He should give His only Son, To make a wretch His treasure. How great the pain of searing loss, The Father turns His face away, As wounds which mar the Chosen One, Bring many sons to glory“. The love a parent has for their children is immeasurable. To see your child die to save another person’s life is unthinkable. To see your child die for someone who hates them and cruelly kills them on a cross is beyond all human understanding. Yet, this is how deep God’s love is for us. In Isaiah, when describing the death of God’s only son we read, “He was pierced for our rebellion, He was crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed. We all like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet the LORD laid on him the sins of us all” (Isaiah 53:4-6). Today, let’s give thanks and praise to our Heavenly Father for his indescribable, undeserved love. Let us seek to be filled with His life-transforming love, so God can turn our often hard and prideful hearts into hearts which reflect his indescribable love and care.
