Everyone loves to receive presents. Often we think the more expensive the presents, the happier we will be. So, we work harder to give our family more, to buy them more possessions. However, the greatest present is the gift of presence – the loving presence of your family and friends in every aspect of your daily life. At your end, it’s not how many possessions you own that count, but the incredible moments spent with loved ones over the years and the presence of your loving family around you to the end. It’s the loss of companionship, not possessions, that we miss the most. This is what makes Jesus’ promise so powerful. Jesus understands it’s not more possessions we need but the gift of His loving presence in our lives. “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.” (John 14:23). When we give our lives to Jesus, he promises to fill us each day with God’s love and the gift of his presence. What a gift to know we are never alone and that their love, companionship, comfort, peace, wisdom, and joy will abide with us forever. Receive the ultimate present – God’s presence in your life.
