Abraham is listed among faith's great examples in Hebrews 11:8-10. But here's what really sets him apart. God promised him children when he was already about 75 and Sarah was 65 – impossible. Yet he believed. And as the years passed and he neared 100, his faith didn't decrease or stay the same – it grew. "Abraham never wavered in believing God's promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God" (Romans 4:20). His faith grew in the waiting. And it didn't stop there. When God tested him by asking him to sacrifice Isaac – the very son he'd waited decades to receive – he immediately set out to obey. His faith just kept growing. We too have been asked to wait, for Jesus to return. For some of us, faith stays the same. For others, it sadly fades. But imagine being like Abraham – with every passing day growing more confident that Jesus will come back. This is the faith God calls us to, a faith that, in Jesus, we can actually grow into. "Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful" (Hebrews 10:23). Believe – keep believing – he is coming soon! (Craig B).
