Sit With Me

Sit With Me

When my 18-month-old grandson is playing on the floor and I'm standing nearby, he'll often say "Sit gampy." He wants me in his space. Sometimes the spot isn't comfortable or I'm wearing clothes I don't want to get dirty, yet his invitation compels me – and whenever I join him, I truly engage with him. The same unspoken invitation comes from those in need, those lost, those seeking companionship. We must enter their space to truly engage them. Paul explains how "To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews….To those not having the law I became like one not having the law…To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some." (1 Corinthians 9:20-22). But the greatest example is Jesus "Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:" (Philippians 2:6-7). Because he chose to enter our space, "we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are-yet he did not sin." (Hebrews 4:15). Whatever you are facing, invite Jesus into your space. (Craig B). Open Bible – bit.ly/1Co9v20-22, bit.ly/Phi2v6-7, bit.ly/Heb4v15
