When I was about 10, my brothers and I went with my dad to work. The parking area was covered in small stones. As he came back, I noticed something sparkling, a diamond. As I ran to the car, I dropped it. Frantically I searched while he called for me to hurry up, then I spotted it again. In the car I showed him what I’d found. He scoured it against the window and said, “I think this is a real diamond”, and then kept it, much to my consternation. Back home he showed it to my mom, who delivered the next surprise: “This is the diamond that fell out of my ring many years ago. I didn’t know where it was lost and thought it would never be found.” Later, it would be given to her granddaughter for her ring. Telling this story to a friend, she remarked, “It just couldn’t stay lost.” We are far more precious than diamonds in God’s sight, yet sometimes we too get lost. Jesus said,, “Suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Doesn’t she light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it?” (Luke 15:8). “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” (Luke 19:10). If you feel lost, or know someone who is, know this: by God’s grace, we just can’t stay lost. (Craig B). Open Bible – bit.ly/Luk15v8, bit.ly/Luk19v10
