Peace Beyond the Storm

Peace Beyond the Storm

Recently we stayed at a timeshare perched on huge granite boulders beside the ocean. When we arrived, the sea was calm as a lake – the sunset glittered across the water, and later the moon cast its gentle light on the surface. Everything felt still and tranquil. Yet only a day later the scene transformed entirely. The ocean turned wild and stormy, foamy waves crashing mercilessly against the granite rocks while strong currents roared through the bay. Watching it, I thought how often our lives feel the same. Without God's presence, life can become turbulent, uncertain, and frightening. Trials rise suddenly like storms, and fears crash heavily against our hearts. Yet God does not leave us alone in the storm. In the middle of life's crashing waves, He offers a peace this world cannot give – one that calms the restless soul and steadies the heart even when circumstances remain uncertain. As Scripture says, "The peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:7) The waves outside us may still rage, but deep within there can be rest, because Christ Himself says: "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." (John 14:27). (Nicky B). Open Bible – bit.ly/phi4v7, bit.ly/joh14v27
