Pray at 30,000 Feet

Pray at 30,000 Feet

Looking out the window at clouds as we fly toward sunnier places, everything below is tiny – life carrying on while we sit constrained by our seats. With no distractions, just the awesome view stretching beneath us, I close my eyes and pray for those I love, pleading their causes and their differing needs before God. In that quiet moment I realise I don't do this enough – my days are too full of noise. I need to set aside time to think of others and ask God to be with them in their troubles. Jesus says, "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). He encourages us to bring our own burdens to Him in prayer, and to bring the burdens of others too – even needs we may be unaware of. Try to set aside time every day to meditate on those around you who are struggling, and to trust that Jesus will be there, both in their time of need and in yours. (Helen M).
