More With Us Than Them

More With Us Than Them

What battle are you fighting today? Perhaps it concerns your health, finances, an uncertain future, or a relationship that seems beyond repair. King Hezekiah faced an overwhelming enemy. The mighty Assyrian army had conquered nations and now threatened Jerusalem. Humanly speaking, defeat seemed inevitable. Yet Hezekiah encouraged his people with these powerful words: "Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid nor dismayed… for there are more with us than with him. With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the LORD our God, to help us and to fight our battles." (2 Chronicles 32:7-8, NKJV). Hezekiah saw beyond the strength of the enemy to the power of Almighty God. When the battle before you seems impossible, where do you place your confidence? In your own strength, resources and ability to find a solution? Or in the God for whom nothing is impossible? Hezekiah and Isaiah cried out to heaven in prayer, and God answered by sending an angel who destroyed the strength of the Assyrian army (verses 20-21). Whatever battle you face today, bring it before God in prayer. Trust His wisdom, His timing and His power. You may not know how He will deliver you, but you can trust the One who fights for you.
