As we enter summer, warnings about walking dogs have appeared – snake activity has increased, and several dogs have died after wandering into the bushes. Our dogs simply don't understand why they're being held back from what they desire: to burrow deep in search of that elusive smell. They strain against the lead, give us a look of disdain, and sometimes sit in full protest. What they don't understand is that we want them to enjoy their walk and keep them safe. I wonder how often we are just like this. We have two ways of living – attached to God or "free." Those who choose "freedom" are not truly free at all; they simply wander without care and soon succumb to the many dangers of our world. "There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death." (Proverbs 14:12) Yet for those who choose to belong to God, He lovingly cares for us. Sometimes that means restraining us from what we think we must have – and He does this in love. "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you." (Psalms 32:8) Whatever you are facing today, hold firmly to God. You can be sure He is bringing you on the most certain route to His Kingdom. (Craig B). Open Bible – bit.ly/pro14v12, bit.ly/Psa32v8
