Worthwhile discipline

We all know that to live a long and healthy life it is important to stay fit. However if staying fit was easy most of the population would be exercising. The reality is we live in a world with high levels of poor health, inactivity, and obesity. Keeping fit requires daily discipline and most are not willing to put in the effort. Physical exercise is a lot like spiritual exercise. Just as it’s so much easier to spend an extra 30 minutes in bed or watching TV than head out for a jog, so it is much easier to read social media rather than your Bible or watch TV rather than join a weekly Bible class. However, the rewards of seeking God are infinite. He promises us a life today filled with His peace, wisdom, wonder, love, and joy, and in the future everlasting life. However, just as exercise requires our discipline and commitment, so too does finding God. “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13). Just as you reap the benefits of health, vitality and longevity with bodily exercise, so your discipline of seeking God first will result in innumerable rewards. “No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.” (Hebews 12:11). Open Bible – http://bit.ly/heb12v11, http://bit.ly/jer29v13
