Have you ever walked a labyrinth? Unlike a maze, which is designed to confuse, a labyrinth carries you forward in one continuous path, guiding you inward without needing to choose a direction. But it can be deceptive. At first, the path seems to head straight for the centre, then suddenly it loops outward, making you feel like you’re going in the wrong direction. And just when you think you’ll never reach the end, the goal appears right in front of you. Recently, while walking a labyrinth with some children, they cried out in despair, “We are never getting any closer to the end!” Moments later, we arrived. It’s a fitting picture of our walk toward God’s Kingdom. Sometimes it feels like the promise is delayed. We may be tempted to echo the words of 2 Peter 3:4: “What happened to the promise that Jesus is coming again? From before the times of our ancestors, everything has remained the same since the world was first created.” But Scripture warns us, “The day of the Lord’s return will come unexpectedly, like a thief in the night” (1 Thessalonians 5:2). His return is far closer than we think. (Craig B) Open Bible – https://bit.ly/2Pe3v4, https://bit.ly/1th5v2
