Years ago my wife and I developed a running approach we called Running Easy – try easier, not harder. We built programs taking people from their first 5km to the 90km Comrades marathon, with a core principle of fun over clock time and personal enjoyment over personal records. Besides making fitness far more enjoyable, it has kept us running decades later. Yet we still see so many people driven by breaking records and pushing harder, an approach that typically doesn't last – when the records are past, the running stops. Many of us take the same approach to our Christian walk: try harder, suffer more, push to achieve. It becomes all about "what must I do to inherit eternal life?" (Mark 10:17). Yet it's not what we do but what Jesus has already done. Not our effort but God's grace. Not a single goal but a life lived in love. Not try harder – try Jesus. "Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." (Matthew 11:29-30). Whatever you are facing today, try Jesus. (Craig B). Open Bible – bit.ly/Mar10v17, bit.ly/Mat11v29-30
