Stop Striving, Start Trusting

"You search the Scriptures because you think they give you eternal life. But the Scriptures point to me! Yet you refuse to come to me to receive this life." (John 5:39-40) These words describe much of my own journey. For twenty years after being baptised, I diligently studied the Bible, learned how Jesus called His disciples to live, and sincerely tried to follow His example, yet I constantly found myself failing. Like Paul, I could say, "I want to do what is right, but I can't." (Romans 7:18) The problem was not Scripture. The problem was believing that knowledge and personal effort could transform me. The Bible was never meant to replace Jesus; it was always meant to lead me to Him. Paul explains that if obedience to God's law could produce new life, Christ's coming would have been unnecessary – but we are set free only through faith in Jesus Christ (Galatians 3:21-22). The Christian life is not about trying harder; it is about trusting deeper. Everything changed when I realised Jesus was not simply calling me to imitate Him -He was inviting me to receive His life within me. Through His Spirit, He gives the wisdom, love, strength, and peace I could never produce on my own. If you are exhausted from striving, come to Jesus. Trust the One who alone can transform you into His likeness, and find the freedom your heart has been seeking. (Nicky B). Open Bible – bit.ly/Joh5v39-40, bit.ly/Rom7v18, bit.ly/Gal3v21-22
