Blooming in barren seasons

Blooming in barren seasons

What do you picture when you think of a plant in soil? I imagine deep, rich earth. Yet, in front of me is a beautiful bush with vibrant flowers, growing in what looks like beach sand. Our lives can sometimes feel like this plant in barren soil. The world tells us to focus on ourselves and not to give when we feel empty. But with God, are we ever truly empty? “But blessed are those who trust in the Lord… They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat… Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit” (Jeremiah 17:7–8). If we stay connected to Him, we produce fruit in all seasons. Not because we feel full, but because He is our source. God doesn’t tell us to wait until we have more, He calls us to remain rooted and still produce. God made me put these words into action today. While writing this, my baby was moaning. I felt distracted, as if trying to produce meaning from sandy soil, and almost gave up. But the fruit isn’t just for me; it’s for others. Is there a bud in your life waiting to produce fruit? What if that fruit is exactly what someone else needs? (Sarah J) Open Bible – https://bit.ly/Jer17v5-8
