“You’re right”, “That good”, “Well done”. These are wonderful words to hear when they are well meant and actually carry meaning. However, we live in the AI age where an AI’s default response is to affirm and praise what you say, and who doesn’t like affirmation and praise? While positive affirmation and praise is good, it can also be destructive. Soon we begin to believe that all we say and think is good and correct. We begin to live in a fake bubble. Then we hit reality, the bubble bursts, and reality comes crashing in. From the beginning God set boundaries and corrected when humans were wrong. The Bible is not an affirming book. It is a story of people shown in the most unflattering way. Everyone from kings to prophets to everyday people are shown in their weakness. Far from affirmation, God clearly says, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). The Bible is a mirror of the true human condition, and this is why many don’t like it. Yet masking our condition with fake praise does not remove it. Rather, “look intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continue in it—not forgetting what you have heard, but doing it—then you will be blessed in what you do” (James 1:25). Open God’s Word and find real blessing and life. (Craig B) Open Bible – https://bit.ly/Rom3v23-24, https://bit.ly/jam1v25
