How God Summarizes You

I've been reading someone's memoirs lately – it's wonderful to glimpse another person's life journey. We all have a life story, whether we write it down or not. How would you summarize yours? Jacob summarized his like this: "My years have been few and difficult" (Genesis 47:9). We may relate. But what truly matters is not how we summarize our life – it's how God does. Of Noah, we read: "Noah was a righteous man…he walked faithfully with God" (Genesis 6:9). Yet of one king we read: "King Rehoboam…reigned seventeen years…He did evil because he had not set his heart on seeking the Lord" (2 Chronicles 12:13-14). Most of us feel our summary wouldn't look like Noah's. But here's the good news: even with our sinful ways, God will summarize our life as righteous if we have faith in Jesus. How amazing is that. "God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God" (2 Corinthians 5:21). The most important summary is not the one we write but the one God writes, and faith in Jesus changes everything about your story. (Craig B).
