“It’s your life, live it how you want. Do what feels right to you.” This advice may sound good, and is common today, but it is the exact opposite of what God says. “For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want” (Galatians 5:17). The teaching is plain, “you are NOT to do whatever you want”. Why? Galatians 5 explains there are two ways we can live, how we feel naturally, “the flesh”, or how God directs us, “the Spirit”. They are not the same. In fact, much of the time what feels naturally right to us is contrary to God’s Spirit. So while we may want to do what feels right, or live how we want, it will lead to pain and suffering, because our designer knows us best. If we want a life full of meaning, love, joy, and peace, then listen to God. Let His Spirit guide you, and you will experience the life He designed you for.
