The scarce resource

The scarce resource

What is the most scarce resource in the universe? Gold? Diamonds? It is actually trees. We are blessed to live in the one place God created an abundance of them. They sustain us, providing breath, protection, food, and beauty—just as Jesus is the Tree of Life. Trees fill our lungs with oxygen, just as Jesus gives us the Holy Spirit: “He breathed on them and said, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit’” (John 20:22). Trees give us shade and shelter, mirroring God’s protection: “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty” (Psalm 91:1). Trees provide food, just as Jesus sustains us to bear fruit: “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me… you will bear much fruit” (John 15:5). Trees offer profound beauty. Walking through a forest feels ethereal, much like the perspective Jesus brings. As C.S. Lewis noted: “I believe in Christianity as I believe that the Sun has risen… by it I see everything else.” A diamond may be “forever,” but only the Tree of Life is truly eternal.
