Where Are You Going?

Where Are You Going?

The first time an angel speaks to a human in the Bible, he asks a question: "Where have you come from, and where are you going?" (Genesis 16:8). It's a question about life's direction – looking back gives perspective, looking forward gives purpose. Yet when we answer where we are going, we fixate more on the path than the destination. We choose the way we are heading rather than where we are heading. If the road is smooth, we take it with little concern for where it leads. Consider two options: an easy paved path ending at a dangerous, dilapidated shack, or rocky terrain leading to a stunning, safe house. Which would you choose? Jesus said, "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." (Matthew 7:13-14). We make the mistake of choosing based on the path, not the place. First answer the question – where are you going? – then walk the way. Jesus told us where we should be headed: "Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness" (Matthew 6:33). Make that your destination. Whatever road you must travel is temporary, but the destination is forever. Where are you going? (Craig B). Open Bible – bit.ly/Gen16v8, bit.ly/mat7v13-14, bit.ly/mat6v33
