We often reflect what we are. People who are inwardly joyous and kind will tend to see joy and kindness in those around them. However, people who accuse others of being selfish or liars or gossips are often reflecting their own behavior and thoughts. Jesus once said "the mouth speaks what the heart is full of." (Matthew 12:34). Yet our internal mirroring goes further than this. While we may project our inner thoughts and behaviors onto others – for good and bad – God warns us that He too will mirror how we think and behave. "To the faithful you show yourself faithful, to the blameless you show yourself blameless, to the pure you show yourself pure, but to the devious you show yourself shrewd." (Psalms 18:25-26). God is telling us that how we think and behave has divine consequences. If we choose to be kind and loving He will reflect this same kindness and love back to us. However, if we choose to think and behave in negative ways, this is the life we will experience. Take a moment and consider, what are you thinking and saying about others? How will God reflect your thoughts and behavior back to you today? "As a man thinks in his heart, so is he." (Proverbs 23:7). (Craig B).
