Morning smiles

Morning smiles

My 2-month-old daughter has just learnt to smile. Her morning smile, when she recognises me upon waking, has become the most special part of my day. It brings me so much joy as a father and makes any challenge of parenthood worth it. It’s fascinating because that simple act of seeking out my face and smiling makes a huge difference to me, even though I know whether she smiles at me or not doesn’t actually impact the love I have for her or what I do for her. It’s the same as our relationship with our Heavenly Father. Whether we acknowledge Him or not, God is always there working in our lives, loving us unconditionally, and will continue to do so every day. Whether we wake up in the morning, look up to Him, smile, and thank Him, or not, won’t change how much He loves us, but I’d like to think it can bring Him a joy similar to the joy a child can give a parent. Why not try make God smile? Seek His face daily, recognise Him and smile at all He’s done for you. I’m sure He will be smiling back. “My son, if your heart is wise, then my heart will be glad indeed; my inmost being will rejoice when your lips speak what is right” (Proverbs 23:15-16) (Jeremy G) Open Bible – bit.ly/Pro13v15-16
