"Be still, and know that I am God" (Psalm 46:10). These familiar words carry a deeper invitation than simply being quiet. The Hebrew word translated "be still" is raphah, meaning to let go, release, cease striving, or loosen your grip. God is not merely asking us to sit in silence; He is calling us to surrender. How often we carry burdens that were never meant to rest on our shoulders? We strive to control outcomes, solve every problem, and fight every battle in our own strength. Yet God gently says, "Let go." Lay down your weapons. Release your fears. Stop exhausting yourself trying to manage what only He can govern. The second part of the verse reveals why we can let go: "Know that I am God." This is more than acknowledging His existence – it is a call to trust His sovereignty, power, wisdom, and love. When circumstances seem uncertain, God remains firmly on His throne. Nothing surprises Him, nothing is impossible for Him, and nothing can frustrate His purposes. Complete surrender is the essential catalyst for experiencing Christ's supernatural peace and saving power. As long as we cling to control, we carry the weight ourselves. But when we surrender, we exchange our weakness for His strength, our anxiety for His peace, and our striving for His rest. Today, release what you cannot control and rest in the God who governs all things. (Nicky B). Open Bible – bit.ly/psa46v10
