We have a one-year-old grandson who is just at the stage where he is ready to take his first steps. I was watching him having fun trying to walk between his mom and dad. Mom would hold him and he would lean forward, take a step, and fall into the waiting arms of dad – then back again to mom. He could take that one small step because he was confident he would be caught by the outstretched arms of his parents. Faith is just like this. It requires action. It requires us to take a step. Abraham was called to go to a country God would show him. He had to leave everything for a place he didn't know and a direction that wasn't revealed (Hebrews 11:8). The first step must have been really hard – yet he knew, beyond doubt, he wasn't just stepping, he was falling toward God. "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." (Isaiah 41:10) The first step of faith isn't easy, but we can be confident that God's outstretched arms are waiting to catch us – even if it's stormy waters we must step into. "Come," he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. (Matthew 14:29). (Craig B). Open Bible – bit.ly/Heb11v8, bit.ly/isa41v10, bit.ly/mat14v29
