Recently I was at a wedding. Outside the reception was a list of names and their assigned seats. At each spot a name card showed your allocated seat. Seeing my name made me reflect on how special it feels to be remembered. Someone had thought of me. Yet at that same wedding, we remembered loved ones no longer with us. Their names weren’t on the list. And after a few generations, even their names will be forgotten. That is the fate of us all—eventually forgotten. But not by God. He has a wedding seating plan too—one that includes the living and the long gone. A celebration where names are not forgotten but honoured. “Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb” (Revelation 19:9). Yet, just like any wedding, only those who respond to the invitation are on the list. That’s why Jesus says, “Rejoice that your names are written in heaven” (Luke 10:20). In a world where names fade, God offers you eternal remembrance. A place at His table. A name remembered forever. Will you accept His invitation?
