Christmas flight

Christmas flight

We were stuck on the runway in dense fog, trying desperately to get home for Christmas. After our flight the night before had been cancelled, we drove to another airport, spent the night at a hotel, and made every effort to catch this early flight. We had exhausted our time, energy, and resources, now indebted to circumstances beyond our control. The pilot came over the speaker and said, “Folks, we have no power to change our circumstances. All we can do is wait for the sun to rise, and we know that it will burn away this obstacle for us.” His words brought Jesus into full view! I had never thought of the sunrise like this. I knew God’s light drives out the darkness, and His mercies are new every morning, but now I saw how His presence dissolves every obstacle, just as the sun dissolves the fog. As we took off, I looked down at the thin layer of clouds that had created so much chaos, shutting down an entire airport. With Jesus, the Son’s light carries us on Spirit-filled wings, lifting us above every problem. “But for you who fear My name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings” (Malachi 4:2).
