Too many lions?

Too many lions?

We. visited a game reserve in Botswana. One morning, we were spoiled with incredible sightings. First, we saw a male lion guarding his recently caught waterbuck. Later, at the riverbank, we saw two female lions hunting with their cubs. On our way back to camp, we spotted a stationary vehicle. The driver said he had just seen a pride of eight lions and asked if we wanted to see them. Of course, we said yes, but our ranger stopped and said he would rather not take us. Surprised, we asked why. He explained that showing too many lions in one day causes guests to lose excitement and appreciation. He was right—we often take things for granted when they come too easily. We love seeking rare treasures and experiencing the thrill of finding them. God even knows this about us. Proverbs 25:2 says, “It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings.” What a blessing it is to have the Bible, the very words of God, so easily available. The Bible is filled with hidden treasures waiting to be discovered, and we all know the joy we have when we find that Bible gem. Let’s not neglect the wonderful treasure the Bible is.
