Newton’s first law states that an object in constant motion will remain in motion unless acted on by an unbalanced force. Similarly, an object at rest will remain at rest unless acted on by an unbalanced force. This principle also holds true in our everyday lives, and especially in our habits. As a runner, the habit of running has become integrated into my lifestyle, so much so that running is the norm. The practice sets ‘running’ into constant motion, remaining in motion unless acted upon by an unbalanced force, such as an injury or sickness. Likewise, for non-runners, the thought of a 5km run may seem terrible, with a huge amount of motivation required to leave the position of rest. This is true for many daily practices; once you get into the rhythm, you can’t imagine stopping, but once you stop, you can’t imagine forming the habit again. “Blessed is the one…whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night“ (Psalms 1:1-2) God has called us to build a healthy habit of meditating on his Word. Let us, through practice and discipline, set this into constant motion so that reading His Word and spending time with God becomes our norm. Open Bible – http://bit.ly/Psa1v1-2 (Jeremy G)
