In winter the biggest blessing is feeling the warm sun shining down. If the sun is shining everything changes. The colors are bright, the day is warmer, and everything seems more alive. This blessing is experienced by every single human both now and through all time. Thousands of years ago the Psalmist spoke of exactly this. "In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun. It is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, like a champion rejoicing to run his course. It rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other; nothing is deprived of its warmth." (Psalms 19:4-6). But the Psalmist doesn't just talk about the warmth that the sun provides, he likens it to a bridegroom. And it's this metaphor that is so important. The daily arc of the sun across the sky, the light that brings warmth and life, the sun that without which we cannot survive is as a bridegroom. It's the unmissable, daily reminder of The Son, The Bridegroom – Jesus. Every day for millennia God has placed the reminder in the sky. Jesus is the one who brings light and life. And he will return for His bride. "The Spirit and the bride say, 'Come!' And let the one who hears say, 'Come!'" (Revelation 22:17). (Craig B). Open Bible – bit.ly/Psa19v4-6, bit.ly/Rev22v17
