Bring an umbrella

Bring an umbrella

As new parents, our victories are small and strange. Recently, ours was praying for a poo. Our little girl had been struggling for days. We remembered how she often blows out her clothes when feeding in the car, so we decided to try again. As we packed the nappy bag, I prayed it would work. My husband said, “Take a spare change of clothes.” I almost packed something I wouldn’t really want her wearing for the day. Then I stopped. If I truly believed God would answer, shouldn’t I pack something I would actually want her to wear? So I did. It worked. And the spare clothes were needed. It reminded me of a story about a community praying for rain. Everyone came empty-handed except one little girl who brought an umbrella. How often do we pray like the crowd? We ask, but we do not fully expect. We believe, but we do not prepare. “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours” (Mark 11:24). Faith looks like bringing the umbrella. (Kayla G) Open Bible – https://bit.ly/mar11v24
