Who are you following?

Who are you following?

Some years ago, I travelled to Australia to speak at a Bible conference. Shortly after arriving, my host took me to a youth event. Afterwards, someone handed me a car and told me to follow my host back home. But as I pulled out of the car park, two cars were leaving and I wasn’t sure which one was his. I picked one and followed. Eventually, the two cars went separate ways, and I chose wrong. Several minutes later, I pulled over. I had no idea where my host lived, didn’t know his surname, and had no clue whose car I was even driving. I had no phone and no one to call. I felt completely lost – all because I followed the wrong person. How often does that happen in life? We follow the wrong people, and only later realise how far off track we’ve gone. Jesus once said just two words to a tax collector: “Follow me”… and Matthew got up and followed Him (Matthew 9:9). That single choice changed his life for eternity. I was eventually found, but in life, if we follow the wrong people, we may never find our way back. Jesus says, “Follow me.” How we respond to this invitation will change everything.
