I enjoy running, but no matter how many times I do it, it’s always an effort and feels tiring. That’s why I’ve often wondered what this Kingdom promise will feel like: “Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint” (Isaiah 40:31). Imagine running and not getting tired. Recently, while walking along our beach, my wife and I decided to run – the tide was out, and the sand was flat and firm. We set off at a gentle pace with a tailwind at our backs. Running along the aptly named Silversands Beach, framed by sea and mountain views, it not only felt effortless – it was like running in a dream. For a few minutes, I experienced what God promises: a life energised by Him in a Kingdom more beautiful than we can imagine. What a promise – a world where we live in His energy, in His space, in His time, forever. “Even so, Come, Lord Jesus” (Revelation 22:20).
