Which would you choose – to inherit not just a house but the entire earth? To live a life that’s filled and satisfied? To be called a child of God? Or the greatest of all – to see God Himself? Or maybe all of these? These seem like impossible dreams, yet they are exactly what Jesus offers. In His first public sermon, the Beatitudes (Matthew 5:3–12), Jesus explained how each can be achieved. To inherit the earth, be meek. To be filled and satisfied, hunger and thirst for what is right. To be called a child of God, be a peacemaker. These incredible hopes are within everyone’s reach – they don’t require intellect or strength. The hardest may be, “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God” (Matthew 5:8). Yet Jesus promises to purify us: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). Jesus holds the greatest offers before us, and while the choice is ours, He will even help us where we are weak. What blessings will you choose today?
