Who do I put my trust in?

Who do I put my trust in?

One of the greatest dangers in our spiritual lives is experiencing success while placing our trust in the wrong things. When King Baasha threatened Judah, Asa turned to Syria for help rather than seeking God. His strategy worked. Baasha withdrew, but what appeared to be victory became a spiritual turning point. God sent the prophet Hanani to remind Asa that the Lord strengthens those whose hearts are loyal to Him. "For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him." (2 Chronicles 16:9) Instead of humbling himself, Asa became angry, imprisoned Hanani, and oppressed some of his people. Later, afflicted with a severe disease in his feet, Asa again failed to seek the Lord, relying instead on physicians. A tragic story – a king who once trusted God now resisted His correction and sought the world to save him. We face the same danger today. Success, worldly solutions, and even medical help can become misplaced sources of security when we leave God out. Success from our own choices can make our hearts proud. The world can never save us – only God can. Do I continually put my trust in my own abilities and worldly solutions, or do I firmly place my trust in God every day? (Nicky B).
