Watching Scripture

Watching Scripture

Did you know that you can watch scripture? Of course, engaging with the Bible through reading is still the best way to learn about God’s teachings, but it need not be the only way. There’s a reason why some of the best-selling books have been adapted into movies: it gives us a different lens through which to view the story. Yes, modern media has a lot of negatives, but we can still use it to further our understanding of God’s Word. As Matthew 6:22 says: “The eye is the lamp of the body”, and what we feed our eyes will rule our hearts. In the past year, I’ve been exposed to The Chosen series, a series of movies depicting the Gospels and the life of Jesus. These pieces of art, while not always precisely related to the text, opened my eyes to the mannerisms and ideas I had missed in my reading. Yes, this should never replace reading, but the next time you’re on YouTube, why not venture into the Christian movies, and I can assure you your lamp will be pleasantly ignited like mine has been. Let your eyes open to see some of the amazing acts our saviour did on our behalf. Open Bible – http://bit.ly/Mat6v22 (Jean-Luc H)
