Making sense of reality

Making sense of reality

Reality is much more intricate than we realise. Scientists say that the right hemisphere of our brain receives 11 million bits of information per second. However, our left hemisphere can only process 16 bits of information per second. And so we are aware of only 16 bits of information per second out of the 11 million we receive. To make this reduction, our brain uses a filter made up of a hierarchy of values. This helps us see what is important to us. For example, if you love fancy cars, you will notice them more than someone who doesn’t. The issue is that the filter we use determines the reality we see. Filters based on self, greed, and power result in us seeing a world filled with this. A world of despair. A world of division and hate. God asks us to make him our greatest value, and this will change everything. It will change how we see the world and make sense of reality. “Don’t copy the behaviour and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” (Romans 12:2). Open Bible – http://bit.ly/rom12v2
