Kingdom vision

Kingdom vision

What am I looking forward to in the kingdom when Christ reigns? Peace. Serving God in a world full of His glory – no war, no famine, ruled in righteousness and love. “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain” (Revelation 21:4). “The wolf and the lamb will feed together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox” (Isaiah 65:25). Returning from a weekend of catering for a church event, I feel shattered, aching, and ready for bed. I think of Jesus, who worked tirelessly preaching the gospel for three years. He was fully human (Hebrews 2:17), so He must have felt exhausted as I do today. Mark 1:35 says, “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.” Nine times it’s recorded that He withdrew to pray, to reset and commune with His Father. We too must step away, make time to pray, and let the peace of God envelope us. “Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD GOD is an everlasting rock” (Isaiah 26:4).
