He had heard about an incredible treasure in an ancient castle. Arriving, he sees a line of people waiting to enter. A sign warns, “Danger. Entry could be fatal”. Yet still, one by one, people enter. Exiting from another door, a man falls to the ground. Another person appears shrouded in a deathly pallor. As he waits, nearly every person is the same. Finally, it’s his turn. He steps inside. Fear grips him. As the door closes, darkness cloaks everything besides a gently glowing mirror. Warily he steps forward and looks. The Bible is referred to as a mirror (James 1:22-24) because it reflects the truth of who we are. The shock is that it reveals the truth about us! “The word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart…Everything is uncovered” (Hebrews 4:12-13). However, in our post-truth world, where truth is subjective, where “my truth” is whatever I want it to be, the horror of seeing The Truth is more than most can handle. The saying, “The truth hurts” has caused us to rather share lies, than truth. Yet, while the truth hurts, lies kill. As uncomfortable as it may be, facing our condition lets God heal us. It’s the only path to life. Are you prepared to look? Open Bible – https://bit.ly/heb4v12-13, https://bit.ly/jam1v22-24
