"Listen to that," says the game guide as we hear the deep guttural bark of Impala. "They are alarm calling. They are warning the herd that there is danger nearby." This is something humans have also done for millennia. In the past watchmen would be placed on the city walls and if they spotted danger they would sound the alarm. "But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet to warn the people and the sword comes and takes someone's life… I will hold the watchman accountable." (Ezekiel 33:6). Sadly we now live in a world where the watchmen have gone silent. And not only silent but they say that all is good. But, "while people are saying, 'Peace and safety,' destruction will come on them suddenly." (1 Thessalonians 5:3). All around us are signs that Jesus is coming back – from the breaking point tensions in the Middle East, to the climate catastrophes (Luke 21:10-11). This is the alarm call. "Stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near." (Luke 21:28). This is the time to "Shout it aloud, do not hold back. Raise your voice like a trumpet." (Isaiah 58:1).
