Have you ever written something on your hand to help you remember it? Before phones, this was my go-to reminder. Writing on hands was common in the ancient Near East too, not just for memory but as a mark—slaves sometimes bore the name of their master branded on their hand. Yet Isaiah flips this image, revealing God doing the unexpected: “See, I have written your name on the palms of my hands” (Isaiah 49:16). Here, God bears the name of His people on His hands, showing an astonishing reversal where He commits to humanity with enduring love and remembrance. This picture of love becomes even more powerful when Jesus tells Thomas to look at the ultimate engraving—His nail-scarred hands. “Put your finger here, and look at my hands” (John 20:27). God is so committed to us that He has engraved us on His hands in a way that can never be erased. And as Jesus said to Thomas, He says to us: “Don’t be faithless any longer. Believe!” Open Bible – https://bit.ly/Joh20v27, https://bit.ly/Isa49v15-16 (Craig B)
