Did you know it’s possible for a stone to not sink in water? You can place a stone gently on top of water, but it will still sink. However, if you throw the stone low and fast, it will skip across the water. It defies the natural laws. In our lives, there are times when we need to defy the natural laws. When we are sinking with the weight of our troubles, Peter, who had bravely stepped out of a boat in the middle of a storm, found he could walk on water to Jesus, defying natural laws. “But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, ‘Lord, save me’” (Matthew 14:30). The moment he stopped moving, he began to sink. Faith works because it acts, because it moves. Hebrews 11 is a chapter filled with giants of faith, and their common trait is movement – Abel brought. Noah built. Abraham went. Moses left. No matter what the storms look like in your life, no matter how impossible it seems, “walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7). Keep walking.
