Tomorrow’s Hidden Word

Tomorrow’s Hidden Word

I noticed recently that the word "tomorrow" has a hint of worry in it, just tucked in backwards at the end – TomoRROW. Whether we have consciously noticed that or not, we certainly live like worry is synonymous with tomorrow. What might happen tomorrow is one of the greatest sources of worry in our modern age. Jesus knew we would have this issue. "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." (Matthew 6:34). His counsel is that worrying does not fix tomorrow; all it does is rob us of today. "Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?" (Matthew 6:27). No, we can't. It does not change the situation, it exacerbates it. So what do we do? The Psalmist gives us some practical advice. "When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise- in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?" (Psalms 56:3-4). In worry he worships. Why? Because by thanking God for what He has done in the past, we let go of the future, knowing He will care for us then too. Instead of worry in your tomorrow, choose worship in your today. (Craig B).
