Life has a way of filling every corner of our attention. Deadlines, responsibilities, illness, loss — the noise can be overwhelming, and we are tempted to reach for distraction after distraction just to keep moving. Yet Jesus, in a quiet moment at the home of his friends Lazarus, Mary, and Martha, offered a gentle but piercing correction to that impulse. While Martha rushed around managing every detail of the visit, Mary sat at his feet, fully present. When Martha asked Jesus to intervene, he replied, "Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed — or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her." (Luke 10:41-42) The same invitation stands for us today. Whatever burdens you are carrying — the mundane frustrations or the deeply serious trials — there is one anchor that holds. The Psalmist understood this when he wrote, "One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple." (Psalms 27:4) And in the stillness of that seeking, God meets us. "Be still and know that I am God." (Psalm 46:10) In his presence there is healing, perspective, and enduring hope. Choose the one thing that cannot be taken away. (Craig B). Open Bible – bit.ly/Luk10v41-42, bit.ly/Psa27v4, bit.ly/psa46v10
