I was walking between our house and my daughter and son-in-law’s house, which is nearby, and I noticed how there is a worn path in the grass marking the route we all seem to take. Typically the reason for a worn path is because this is the shortest and easiest route between two points. As humans, we prefer the shortest or most familiar route. If, for some reason, our path is blocked, we can quickly become unsettled and unsure. But imagine how much worse this would be if you were blind. The familiarity of the path is not just ease; it is safety too. But we are all blind. Blind to what lies ahead as we journey life’s path. What comes next? Many days, weeks, and years may unfold in a familiar well-trodden path – and this makes us comfortable. But, at some stage, things change – our lives, our circumstances, the world – and the path is unfamiliar. Then what? Panic? Fear? Anxiety? But God says – “I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them.” (Isaiah 42:16). Put your trust in God, He will lead you and turn your darkness to light and your fear to peace. He is your guide.
