God’s Answer Across Centuries

God’s Answer Across Centuries

"But where is the lamb for a burnt offering?" (Genesis 22:7, NKJV) It was a question Isaac asked his father Abraham as they walked towards the place of sacrifice. Abraham replied, "God will provide for Himself the lamb" (Genesis 22:8). But that question would echo through the centuries. In Exodus 12:3-13, a lamb's blood protects the Israelites from judgement. Centuries later, Isaiah describes a suffering servant, led like a lamb to the slaughter, bearing the sins of others (Isaiah 53:6-7). Then, one day, beside the Jordan River, John the Baptist sees Jesus approaching and declares: "Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!" (John 1:29) The question asked centuries earlier finally has its answer in Jesus! And in Revelation 5:6-10, we see the Lamb again, standing as though slain, yet victorious. Different authors. Different centuries. Different books. Yet one extraordinary story unfolds. The Bible was written by around 40 authors over approximately 1,500 years, yet its central message is remarkably interconnected. It's not simply a collection of disconnected religious writings. From Genesis to Revelation, its great story points us towards Jesus. The Lamb Isaac asked about is the Saviour God provided. And the most remarkable part? He came for you. (Craig B).
