Where do you go when you pray? Jesus gives a striking answer: "When you pray, enter into your closet, and when you have shut the door, pray to your Father which is in secret; and your Father which sees in secret will reward you openly." (Matthew 6:6) At first glance this sounds like a call to find a private room, but Jesus is pointing to something far deeper. The word translated closet literally means a dispensary or secret place – a place where we are dispensed into God's presence. And the word translated door is the Greek word for portal. Jesus is not simply telling us to avoid the showy prayers of hypocrites, though that matters too. He is inviting us through a portal into a real, divine, secret place – the very presence of God. When Jesus died, the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom, opening the way for every believer to enter what was once accessible only to the high priest once a year. Now we are invited in every single day. This is not a relationship built on rattled-off requests – it is an invitation to genuine conversation, to walking with God, to sitting with him the way friends share a meal. When you pray, you step through a portal into an extraordinary place of peace, forgiveness, and eternity. A place of relationship. God is waiting to talk to you. (Craig B). Open Bible – bit.ly/Mat6v6
