Watch your heart rate

Watch your heart rate

When I run I look more at my heart rate than pace or time or anything else. The reason is because our health insurance needs us to maintain a certain heart rate during exercise to qualify for rewards. It should be the same for our spiritual life. All too often we are focused on how far we must go or how fast or slow we are growing. Yet this is not what we are asked to focus on. The great command is… “Jesus said unto him, You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.” (Matthew 22:37). This is the ultimate test. We often get caught up in many things in religion. Sometimes some of the worst in human nature comes out when one child of God attacks another based on their beliefs or behavior. This does not mean we shouldn’t study God’s word to understand what he has taught or correct people when they are wrong, but these should never trump our heart check. Showing love to our neighbors – and even those we see as enemies, is the hallmark of Christian life. By this shall they know you are my disciples. (Craig B). Open Bible – bit.ly/mat22v37
