Face the Waves

Face the Waves

There is something you learn quickly when in the sea, and that is how to handle the waves. They can look large and scary, but they are often worst when they break in a foaming mass, easily knocking you over and sending you tumbling beneath the water. However, if you swim out further towards the waves — which seems crazy — you can often find a place where they are not breaking. Even though they are huge, these swells will simply lift you and set you down on the other side. In life we see many waves coming at us and we may try to stay in the shallower water, away from the danger. Yet often this can be worse. The solution is to face the waves and go out to meet them — but this takes a courage that only God can provide. "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." (Joshua 1:9). Whatever challenges lie in your day, lift up your head in God's strength and pray David's prayer as you face them — "I will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam." (Psalm 46:2-3). Why? Because "God is my refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble." (Psalm 46:1). (Craig B). Open Bible – bit.ly/jos1v9, bit.ly/Psa46v2-3, bit.ly/Psa46v1-3
