Marathon of faith

Marathon of faith

Recently I got to run a marathon. While I’ve done many over the years, they’re still a great challenge. This time, I had the opportunity to run it with my son-in-law. We had trained together, and this was his first. The start is always a mix of festivity and fear. Early kilometres are filled with chatter and excitement. Reaching 21km feels like a small victory. But around 25km, there’s a shift. The chatter dies down. The body is tired. With 17km still to go, the mood becomes serious. At 35km, you hit the doldrums – exhausted, with the end still feeling far. And now there’s one rule: never stop. Keep moving. Even if it’s a slow walk. Slowly, the kilometres pass. Then you hear the finish line. A surge of energy. Arms raised. It’s done. This is the Christian life. We begin with excitement. We walk with others. But somewhere along the way, we get tired. Discouraged. And here is where God meets us. “Cast all your anxiety on God because he cares for you… after you have suffered a little while, [He] will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.” (1 Peter 5:7, 10). Keep moving. He will strengthen you. (Craig B). Open Bible – https://bit.ly/1Pe5v7-10
