Reach for His Hand

It is amazing the transformation when a small child goes from crawling to walking. Our grandson now has so much more mobility and can get far more easily to where he wants to go. Recently we were on a beach with beautiful white sand. He started walking by himself, but quickly the sand became steeper and thicker. Immediately he reached for my hand and could continue to explore despite the tricky terrain. This made me think about our walk through life. In many ways we are still learning how to walk properly. When things are smooth we are usually fine, but when life becomes bumpy, everything changes. What do we do then – push on hoping our own skills will see us through, or reach for God's hand? "The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand." (Psalms 37:23-24). God provides a stability in life that we cannot get from anywhere else. He will stop us from stumbling and hurting ourselves and keep us steady. But like my grandson, we need to reach out and take His hand. "I cling to you; your right hand upholds me." (Psalms 63:8). Reach out to God and let Him support you in everything you do today.
